Paolo Troilo

Biography

Born in  Taranto on 27th March 1972.
From 1997 to 2009 he worked as creative director at Saatchi&Saatchi and at Arnold Worldwide Italy. He was awarded with  the most prestigious prizes in the advertising sector: Cannes Lions, Eurobest, Clio Award. In 2007 he was awarded with the Grand Prix at Art-Director’s Club. He started to paint in 2005.
After having participated in the group exhibition 5+5 confrontation of generations (2006, Milan, Studio Studio D’Ars) in 2007 he outstands with the first solo show Count up to ten curated by Luca Beatrice (2007, Milan, Fabbrica Eos) and with Paolo Troilo in Parma (2007, Contemporary Gallery). In 2008 he exhibits together with Fabio Giampietro in the double solo show Giampietro and Troilo, curated by Alberto Mattia Martini at Spazio Testoni in Bologna. Moreover he exhibits  again in Milan (Paolo Troilo, curated by Samuele Mazza, Vissionnaire Design Gallery) and Padua (Count up to ten, Anna Breda Contemporary Art). Luca Beatrice also curates the show Troilo in 2009 (Milan, Fabbrica Eos); in the same  year he exhibits in San Gimignano (My name is no one or maybe a hundred thousand, Gagliardi Gallery) and Reggio Emilia (Paolo Troilo, Gallery De’ Bonis). In 2010 the first solo show in Rome at the Gallery 5 lune and the show Paolo Troilo at the Selve Theatre  of Vignone (Turin).
In 2011 he faces the exhibitive project Azioni: solo show curated by Lorenzo Canova at Galleria Russo of Rome and solo show at Gallery Gagliardi of San Giminiano. In the same year he exhibits at Palazzo Antonori in Florence and presents Troilo, Reazioni at Gallery Fabbrica Eos of Milan, curated by Mattia Zappile.
In 2011 he is among the artists that participate in the 54 Biennale of Venice, Italian Padiglion, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi (Venice) and in 2012 participates in the LVII Mostra Nazionale Premio Città di Termoli 2012, curated by Lorenzo Canova.
Furthermore, he has been part of various important group exhibitions: Nelle mani (2008, Milan, Mondo Arte Gallery), Black & White (2008, Reggio Emilia, Studio De Bonis), Contemporary Life (2009, Marciana, IF Art Gallery), SwingArt (2009, Opera, Golf Club Le Rovedine), Pensiero Fluido (2010, Milan, Spazio Oberdan, curated by Alberto Mattia Martini), Stanze d’artista (2012, Rome Galleria Russo and Biblioteca Angelica, Galleria Angelica).
He has also exhibited at the important international and national art fairs: MiArt (2007, 2008, 2009), Art Verona (2008), ArteFiera Bologna  (2010), Miami Art Basel (2008), Swab Barcelona (2012).
He lives and works in Milan.
