His painting is personal and not limited by a simple observation of the pictural subject, but overwhelms the compositional elements of the picture with the insertion of glass, gold, sequins, creating a unique material. In the academic context of this period, he appears as really innovative. He is an important figure of italian painting between 1870 and 1910.
