Arianna Matta was born in Rome in 1979. She holds a degree from the city’s DAMS University for the performing and visual arts and also studied at the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA).
Matta’s work centres on her research into space and light. In her latest paintings, she focuses on sparse interiors devoid of human presence. Despite the absence of people and activity, these spaces are far from desolate, containing references that transmit a sense of familiarity and human narrative.
The artist intervenes with different tools to create, using the metaphor of Zygmunt Bauman, a liquid vision of reality in which construction gives way to instability.
